The National Botanical Garden of Belgium | A Photo Story

Mar 17, 2011 12:12 pm

Not long after I posted about waiting for the Amorphophallus titanum to bloom in Belgium, it did. The rotting meat smelling flower was open and I was not about to miss it.

Yesterday, I rushed out to the National Botanical Garden of Belgium to photograph it. While there, I also took the time to photograph some of the other flowers in bloom in the greenhouses. Here are a few of my favourite flower photos:

Here's what all the fuss was about - The Titan Arum (Amorphophallus titanum). It didn't even smell that bad.

Here's the Titan Arum in context - look how big it is compared to the people!

There were some stunning waterlilies on display. I love how this one is reflected in the pond.

I couldn't get over how perfectly formed this Camillia Japonica "Bar Legavy" was.
